Alexandra (Alex) Puritz is a UCAR Extramural Project Specialist for OAP. In this role, she coordinates OAP’s external research portfolio, supports OAP program management, and represents the program to other NOAA offices and the extramural research community. Prior to joining OAP, Alex worked on deep-sea science outreach and education at the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation (in support of NOAA Ocean Exploration) and on ocean acidification capacity-building efforts at The Ocean Foundation. Alexandra earned her B.A. in Anthropology and International Relations from Connecticut College and her M.S. in Marine Affairs and Policy from the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, where her thesis research focused on marine protected area management effectiveness in Cuba. In her free time, she can be found adventuring with her Hurricane Harvey rescue pup, Taco.
